Azrael stood before the army of Gondor. Trebuchets were packed... horses were ready...
And we still don't have enough damn riders. Azrael thought to himself.
He awaited the arrival of his sister and Fen'thik before he began his speach.
Someone came up to Azrael and told him the numbers.
20'000 foot soldiers, 200 riders, 5'000 spearmen and 50 trebuchets... Impressive, but I think after I've declared the situation we should only take the riders and 2'000 foot soldiers, and 500 spearmen, otherwise we'll leave the city too defenseless. Best we leave the trebuchets, otherwise we'll be churning up Isenguard as well as the enemy...

Fen'thik ran onto the balcany, half out of breath "Ok im here. whats happening?"

Azrael embraced Fen'thik.
"I'm calling this assembly to announce that we are at war, and we are going to ride to the aid of Isenguard against an unknown foe."
Azrael remained calm, but inside he was churning with thoughts.
No man here deserves to have war forced upon them...
Azrael walked over and picked up a rose that he left on the table, then he turned back to Fen'thik.
"I need you to lead our riders into battle. I'll be coming as well. I need to see if I can convince my sister to remain here to look after Gondor whilst we're gone."
Azrael played with the rose with his fingers.
Why is beauty so fragile? He thought to himself.
How can one hope for such a thing to survive the hooves of horses and the wheels of catapults? Isn't there another option than war?
Azrael threw the rose aside and grabbed his sword. His sword had always been seen to him as a badge of office... No matter what he is at the time.

"Yes, of course." Fen'thik made a gesture of respect and imediatly left to prepare.

Azrael watched him leave, and waited patiently for him to return.

Eldarieth came out of the shadows. "So.." she said eyes sparkling yet defiant. "You wish me to stay here? In the safety of our walls? Whilst our people, my people, die?" She bent down and cradled the rose, twirling it lightly in her fingers, ignoring the sharp thorns.

"I thought you wouldn't agree, but I fear for what may happen if the city is attacked whilst we're gone."
Azrael took the rose from Eldarieth Ar-londiel's hands and held it gently, feeling embarrased for throwing it aside.
"I'm sorry... I guess I'm just a bit angry... It's not like me."

Eldarieth looked up and into Azrael's eyes. "No, it's not like you. Is the war all that is troubling you? Or is it more? You would tell me if there was something the matter, wouldn't you?" Eldarieth hoped her brother would speak the truth, and not just what he knew she wanted to hear. "And about the city, i am sure i can find one who will ensure Gondor's safety"

Azrael smiled.
"I'm angry because going to war is going against everything I stand for... But we have no choice."
Where's Fen'thik... He's taking a long time.
"When Fen'thik gets back I'll talk to the soldiers. Do you wish to say anything?"

"We always have a choice..and it is often difficult telling which is right and which is easy. Some may seem to be good, honest and true. but we can never know where our choices will lead us. If I didn't know you better, I would try have you let me go in your place. But it seems for the time this is what we must do..." Eldarieth said gently

Azrael listened to what his sister had to say. He remained silent.
True... He thought.
His thoughts raced for five seconds and then something snapped in his head.
... Yes... That'll do. We should take five trebuchets for it to work...
"I have a plan... It's not too efficient as we don't know what we're up against, but it should be good enough..."
Azrael sighed.
"...I can't stop feeling for the people who will die in this battle."

Eldarieth bowed her head. "Neither can i. are you sure there is no peaceful way to solve this?" "And what is this plan of yours?"

"Unfortunately to work things out the peaceful way, both sides must be patient with one another... Our opponents are hell bent on our destruction."

Fen'thik came back to the balcony with his armour and weapons equipped. He saluted to Azrael and Eldarieth Ar-londiel.

Azrael greeted Fen'thik, and then turned to his sister.
"Me and Fen'thik must go down to address the soldiers. Do you want to come, or do you wish to attend other matters?"
