Gandalf smiled and placed his hand on his wifes, and kissed her on the forehead before he stood up and walked to the front of the room.
"My friends, it is in great sorrow that I must announce that the peace of this world is fading, slowly the world is being plunged into darkness, and soon the world will be engulfed. We must stand and fight this coming darkness, We must prepare for war, a war in which we know not our enemy. I have bestowed upon each of you a special gem, which should help combat this enemy, but unfortunately, due to the arrival of a new kingdom ruler in Rivendell..." he said, signaling to Telarath, "...We are one gem short." he said, raising a hand, which caused the gems in everybody's possession to glow brightly in their pockets. "Now, everybody, we have two options...the first is, I can give my gem to Aeri, and press on without one...or two, I can attempt to create an eighth gem, but might not finish in time and might not be able to participate in the first part of the battle...I would like everybody to tell me which they would prefer." he said, bowing his head slightly. "Now, I want everybody to know, this enemy is dangerous, and I have already shared it's destructive power with Tinaldor, by way of revealing the future. This is no joke my friends, you all could die..."

Tinaldor nodded to Gandalf, and stood up himself. "Fellow Rulers of Middle-Earth, you have only one option. You will unite, or you will fall. Everyone must work together, despite differences, because differences and quarrels mean nothing, if you are dead, and rotting slowly as the carrion picks at your corpse. This battle will require all Middle-Earth has, and if not we will surely fail. So I ask each ruler to commit to the cause, and pledge their armies to the alliance. However, as in every army, there needs to be a leader. I suggest that each in turn suggest an overall General to lead us into battle...... I suggest Mithrandir. If this were to happen, Gandalf would need to be at the front lines, and therefore the answer to the question of an eigth gem. He would be most wise, and I am a soldier, I prefer to be given orders, and Mithrandir would be the best for this, in my opinion." He returned to his seat, and waited for the next speaker.

Tinaldor stood again. "If this is so, I suggest another ruler be nominated to take overall responsibility for the combined forces, and to lead the preparations for the arrival of this enemy." He sat back down, and waited for the other rulers to state their viewpoint.

Telarath sat back and watched as the others present conversed back and forth. He smiled at the comradere that they all shared. He slowly rose from his seat and threw back his flowing robes. When he had done so, he cleared his throat and began to speak. "My fellow peoples of Arda, I have sat here and given much thought to the situation at hand. With that in mind, I would like to nominate Mithrandir to lead our troops into battle. He has shown before that he is more than capable and even more wise than an Elf of my stature." Telarath said as he turned to Gandalf. He then bowed onto one knee and began to speak. "Mithrandir, I offer you my allegence and that of my people as well. I am here to help in anyway possible."

Ara looked at Telarath and then at Austin.a slight idea forming in her mind.she stood and said quietly:"If I may my lord Telarath.Gandalf is overseeing the creation of an eighth gem.he does not have the time to try and juggle both my friend.that is why Tinaldor suggested one of the rulers help with the armies and combined forces."she looked at Austin again and her eyes turned their usual blue/gray."I will do what ever I can to help the nominated ruler.I would suggest Tinaldor or Austin.they are both good leaders in battle."she was taking a risk doing this she knew.

Aeri watched the rulers speak, her own mind whirring with strategies, plans and ideas. She stood, her silence showing her increase in thoughts. "I would like to nominate Tinaldor as leader in battle. I have never seen a fighter like himself. I would be honoured to follow your orders," she said, while bowing to Tinaldor. She smiled to herself and glanced at the others in the room, before taking her seat.

Ara smiled at Aeri and said quietly:"aye I agree with you Aeri.Tinaldor is a good choice for leader in battle."she bowed to Tinaldor her expression a slight mix of memories and emotions from the wars together.she then stood at attention and saluted Aerianeth,a rememberance of her time as Aeri's body guard.it was a soldiers salute,a comrades.she then took her seat again.

Telarath listened intently as the maidens before him spoke. He then quietly cleared his throat and began to smile sheepishly. "I think that I must have had my mind on the battle. I was not paying attention, but now know fully what was said. I have nothing but the utmost confidence in Tinaldor and nominate him as well."

Tinaldor stood and bowed to his friends. "I thank you for your confidence in me, friends and fellow rulers. I shall not let you all down. However, I still wish to here the opinions of men voiced before I do anything. I would ask of Procneus what his thoughts are here." Tinaldor signaled to Procneus to rise, and then sat down himself.

*Procneus stood up* I'm a bit taken aback that we would all vote on a heartless murderer to lead our troops into battle. I for one would not feel confident with my troops under his command, and I am certainly NOT taking orders from him. I'm sorry, but I am of a mind to think that me and my own will be better off on our own. If this force comes to Rohan, we will make a stand, and if any of you would like to come make a stand with me at the gates of Rohan, that is fine with me. But your orders will mean nothing to me.
I can't think of anyone else I would have lead my men into battle except for me. So it looks like I am going to be a loner in this one.

Ara looked at Procneus and whispered:"so be it Procneus."then silently stood and walked from the room.she leaned against the hallway wall trying to calm down.she felt tears sliding down her cheeks and buried her head in her hands.it had been her telling Tinaldor that had gotten this started.she closed her eyes wishing bitterly that everything between Procneus and Tinaldor had not happened.
