"So do I. I'm confident that it will be... But then that's probably obvious, cos if I wasn't I'd think of another plan."

"We are all unsure. What we face is completely unknown. Convenient isn't it?"
Azrael smiled.

"That is...not good..." Eldarieth sighed "So you are going to fight something you no absoulotely nothing about? What if this is a trap? how do you know that there will be merit in going into battle at all? and how can so little be known?" Eldarieth asked, she had heard nothing since her return, and none would divulge any information with her.

"There's no such thing as merit in battle. We're fighting for our right to survive here. If it's a trap... Well... We'll have to see."

"So how come our spies never heard of this? i have spoken to each one individually since my return. it was the first thing i did, but there was no word at all"

"From what I've heard, many spies have gone missing. It may be possible that none of our spies that have gained information of them have lived to tell the tail."

Eldarieth shivered, despite the crisp warmth of the sun. She truly hoped that death or capture was not the fate of any of her hand-picked agents. "So would you think i should send out more now? to find out more of what it is we face?"

"Lord Tinaldor and Lord Austin will already have a good idea of what's ahead. There's no need to spend the lives of more people."

"That is good. I had no real wish to send more of our people into the unknown.."

Azrael sighed.
"Yes." He didn't know what else to say.
It is so hard to fight the unknown...
"I must go to the assembly now. The men will already be in line."

Eldarieth nodded. "I will watch from here." she said softly, giving him what she hoped was a confident smile.

Azrael smiled.
"Thank you. It's at least confortable to think that if I fall, Gondor will still be in good hands."
Azrael took his leave.

Eldarieth wanted to say that Azrael would never fall, but she knew war just as well as he did. And she also knew him. Azrael would never content himself with leading by the sidelines. She knew that there were always risks. She smiled bitterly as he turned to go.
